The question you are asking yourself if you are considering a monochrome LED Ticker – “Do I really need all of those colors?”
On a weekly basis we field questions from clients looking for “the most economical LED Ticker”. The conversation immediately turns to a request for a single color Ticker. While a monochrome Ticker is more economical, the cost gap to full color isn’t much.
Why Doesn’t Rise Offer Monochrome?
As full color costs decreased, we phased out non-full color models for the following reasons:
- If you look at technology trends, people want bigger, brighter, faster with more color in nearly everything we purchase from LCD TVs, to computers to cell phones. Therefore the number of requests for full color increased dramatically. While interest in monochrome Tickers has declined.
- We want our clients to be completely satisfied with their Ticker. We want to be proud of every installation. It is tough for either to happen when you are installing yesterday’s technology. While requests for single color Tickers are financially motivated, we would argue that it is better for the company to do nothing and save the money. Why do something if it won’t “wow” people.
- We wanted to stay focused. We put all of our development and resources into hardware, software, and content for full color Tickers.
Full Color Tickers Allow You to Make Visual Impact
In summary, finding single color Tickers is becoming more difficult as manufactures streamline processes and inventory. As you consider a LED Ticker display think long and hard before going with an older Ticker technology. Even though you can get a monochrome today, getting upgrades, replacement parts, and service down the road will become more difficult.
