What is meant by a Dow Jones LED Ticker Display? There are two different approaches.
Showing Dow Indices
S&P Dow Jones Indices is a joint venture between S&P Global, CME Group, and News Corp to license stock market indices as benchmarks. Currently, the calculate over 100,000 indexes, but the most well known are the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is also commonly referred to as the DJIA, Dow Jones, the Dow 30, or simply the Dow.
Showing the Dow Constituents
The DJIA is comprised of 30 large publicly owned companies based in the US and traded on the NYSE and Nasdaq exchanges.
Someone wanting to show a Dow Jones Ticker is typically referring to scrolling the individual prices for each of the 30 components that make up the index. This is popular because these instruments are widely held and easily recognizable brands that viewers can relate to.
Instruments are even more recognizable when company logos are used instead of cryptic symbols.
